This site is a set of text pages and a contact form. The list below is everything that exists, not a list of categories a site like this could theoretically use. It is written under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Publisher and contact point
Vernadique (vernadique.com) is published by Ella Martin in Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia. Requests under this policy go to [email protected] and are answered by a person.
What exists
- Server and delivery records. The host and the content delivery network log the IP address, page requested, time, referrer and user agent for each request, as every web server does. They are needed to deliver the site and to deal with abuse.
- Your cookie answer. A single word held in your browser's local storage, on your device, never sent anywhere.
- Correspondence. Your name, email address, optional phone number and message, if you write to me.
- Your notification subscription. If you allow browser notifications, OneSignal stores a subscription identifier for your browser, together with the email address, name and any phone number you entered on the form. It exists so a reply and later updates can reach you, and it disappears when you unsubscribe or clear the site data.
There are no user accounts, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting and no per-reader history of pages viewed. These are not promises about restraint; the mechanisms are simply not present in the site. The one list that exists is the notification list, which you join by ticking the box on a form and allowing notifications in your browser.
Purposes
Delivery records keep the site available and let abuse be traced. Correspondence lets me answer you. The cookie answer stops the notice reappearing on every page. A legal obligation would be a further purpose if one ever applied to a specific record.
Anything in the measurement or advertising categories is loaded only after you accept it. Declining leaves every page identical and complete.
The forms, and notifications
Two forms exist: one on the contact page and one on the handbook page. Both collect a name, an email address, an optional phone number and a message; the handbook form also records the item you selected. Both carry a tick box that must be ticked before the form will send, confirming you want a reply and browser notifications. Nothing else is asked for. No payment is processed anywhere on this site and no card, bank or address detail is ever requested; payment for an order is arranged separately by email.
When the form is submitted the details are passed to OneSignal, the notification service this site uses, and stored there against your subscription: the email address, the name, the phone number if given and the first part of the message. OneSignal processes them on my instructions and under its own terms. This is stated because it would otherwise be invisible, and because it is relevant to what you choose to put in a message.
Your details are used to reply to you. They are not added to any list, not shared with anyone else, and not used for any other purpose. For a general message the basis for holding them is the request you made by writing; for an order it is the steps you asked me to take before a contract, and then performing it.
Order correspondence is kept for longer than a general message, because a question about a purchase can arrive months later and consumer guarantees do not end at delivery. It is still used for nothing except answering you and sending the file.
The form includes a field hidden from human readers that only automated submissions complete. Messages arriving with it filled are discarded unread.
Third parties
- The hosting provider that holds and serves these files.
- Cloudflare, the content delivery network in front of the site.
- OneSignal, which delivers browser notifications and holds the form details described above.
No analytics service, tag manager, social widget, embedded video or external font is loaded on any page of this site. The one script that comes from elsewhere is the OneSignal notification SDK; every other asset the browser requests comes from this domain, which takes about ten seconds to verify in developer tools if you would rather check than take my word for it.
Links to the stores
Guides link out to official Google Play and App Store listings. Once you follow one of those links, Google's or Apple's privacy terms govern what happens, not this page. Nothing flows back to Vernadique, and there is no mechanism here that could tell whether you went on to install anything.
Retention
Delivery records are held briefly by the provider then discarded or aggregated. Correspondence is kept while the matter is live and for a reasonable period afterwards. Your cookie answer stays in your browser until you clear it; the cookie policy gives the steps for each browser.
Access, correction, complaints
The Australian Privacy Principles entitle you to ask what personal information is held about you and to have inaccurate information corrected. Write to [email protected]; a reply normally follows within 30 days. For most readers the truthful answer is a short-lived server log and nothing more, and that is what you will be told.
If a privacy matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au accepts complaints. Readers in the European Union may also contact their local supervisory authority.
Changes
The date at the top of the page changes whenever this policy does. Anything material is described in the opening paragraph for a period afterwards rather than being introduced quietly.
